Overview

Over the past few years increasing emphasis has been placed on adolescent athletes that ever before.
In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, the spotlight has been on adolescent individual stars like Olympic figure skater Sarah Hughes, NBA basketball marvel LeBron James, outstanding teen golfer Michelle Wie, and outstanding soccer star Freddy Abu.
Additionally, the Little League World Series and youth football games are now broadcast on ESPN-2.
Youth and Adolescent Sport Psychology 
With the rising interest in younger athletes, there is considerable more pressure on younger athletes to compete and succeed in their respective sport.
As a psychologist and consultant, my goal is to assist youth and adolescent athletes as well as educate parents on any number of developmental issues that could impact their youngster’s participation in sports.
Whether the athlete’s goal is in hopes of acquiring a collegiate scholarship or pursuing the ultimate dream of reaching the professional ranks, today’s male and female athletes have greater challenges to content with from external and internal sources.
In my private practice, my role is to assist adolescent athletes in gaining greater competency and personal well-being in his or her desired sport.
A sports psychology consultant can help an athlete address multiple issues that block the pathways for success and self-empowerment.
Therapeutically, the goal is to help an athlete better understand him or herself as well as to provide opportunities to maximize their performance.
The process evolves within the establishment of a confidential, safe, and collaborative relationship.
